Description
Original gouache bird painting: “Cedar Waxwing”
Gouache on Paper 8″ X 10″, 2013
It felt absolutely natural to paint this distinctive, berry-loving bird at mealtime; the bright red berries in this piece provide a beautiful balance to the generally muted colors of the bird’s plumage. They also echo the bright red waxy tips on his secondary feathers, which give the waxwing its name. This detailed wildlife illustration is a lovely way to bring nature into your space.
This listing is for an original unmatted and unframed gouache painting. Gouache is similar to watercolor, but is more opaque, allowing for brighter, richer colors.
Paper measures 8″ X 10″ (20.3 X 24.5 cm) to fit in a standard frame. Image size is approximately 6.5″ X 9.25″ (16.5 X 23.5 cm)
It is painted on 140 lb (300 g/m2), acid free, archival quality hot press watercolor paper, using high quality gouache paints. The painting is finished with a coat of spray varnish.
This piece is signed with a monogram and year in the lower right-hand corner, and title, date and artist’s name on back.
